Obverse description Laureate bust of Hadrian facing left, draped on the left shoulder, rendered in the high-relief portraiture style characteristic of the early Hadrianic period. The emperor's effigy displays his distinctive short, curly hair and beard, the latter being an innovation Hadrian introduced to imperial portraiture. The circumferential legend reads IMP CAESAR TRAIAN HADRIANVS AVG, disposed around the portrait field. The flan is slightly irregular in outline, typical of hand-struck Roman silver coinage of this period.

Reverse description Standing figure of Fortuna, the goddess of fortune, depicted facing left in flowing robes. She holds a ship's rudder in her right hand, symbolising the guidance of fate, and a cornucopia in her left hand, emblematic of abundance. A column appears behind her, against which she lightly leans, a compositional detail noted in the RIC type. The reverse legend P M TR P COS III is disposed around the field, recording Hadrian's pontifical and tribunician titles and his third consulship, thus precisely dating the issue to AD 120–121.
