正面描述 Laureate bust of Hadrian facing right, with bare chest and traces of drapery visible on the far shoulder. The emperor's portrait is rendered in the realistic Hellenistic tradition favored during his reign, with characteristic curly hair and beard emerging from beneath the laurel wreath. The legend encircles the bust along the coin's periphery. The flan shows slight irregularity typical of hand-struck Roman silver coinage of the early second century AD.

附加信息

Hadrian's early coinage reorganization following Trajan's death in 117 AD involved a deliberate rebranding of imperial messaging — Felicitas, the personification of happiness and good fortune, was deployed with unusual frequency in his first years as a programmatic statement of dynastic legitimacy. Hadrian's succession had been contested enough that some senators were put to death in its immediate aftermath, a crisis he publicly blamed on Attianus and distanced himself from throughout his reign.

The COS III dating anchors this piece to 119-120, his third consulship, before the title Pater Patriae complicated his titulature further.
