Reverse description The personification of the Nile river god (Nilus) reclines to the left in a semi-draped posture, his body resting against a rocky outcrop that evokes the riverbank. He raises his right hand aloft holding a lotus plant or reed, an attribute closely associated with the Nile deity and Egyptian iconography. A small hippopotamus or crocodile is visible at lower right, serving as a further attribute identifying the river divinity. The reverse legend NILVS appears in the upper field, distributed around the figure.
