| Obverse description | Bare-headed, bearded bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, draped at the shoulder, the drapery visible at the lower truncation. The portrait exhibits the characteristic curly hair and full beard introduced by Hadrian as a philhellenic affectation, rendered with fine engraving typical of the Roman Imperial mint at its height. The encircling legend reads HADRIANVS AVG COS III P P, disposed around the bust within a beaded border. The effigy is depicted in a three-quarter rear view, presenting the left shoulder prominently to the viewer. |
