In his raised right hand he holds an upright spear, while his left arm supports a large, grounded shield. The figure is rendered in a static, dignified pose consistent with the iconographic conventions of Hadrianic reverse types. The field legend MARTI, in the dative case, appears distributed to either side of the deity, dedicating the type to Mars. |
