| Beschrijving keerzijde | The personification of Justitia (Justice) is depicted seated left upon a high-backed throne or chair, rendered in the classicising style characteristic of Hadrianic reverse types. She holds a patera in her extended right hand and a long sceptre upright in her left hand, her drapery falling in carefully rendered folds across her legs and the seat. The legend IVSTITIA AVG P P is distributed in the field to left and right of the figure, while COS III appears in the exergue below the throne. The composition reflects the Hadrianic imperial program of promoting civic virtues and the emperor's role as upholder of justice. |
