背面描述 The personification of Justitia (Justice) seated left on a throne or chair, rendered in robes with a patera held extended in her right hand and a long vertical sceptre held upright in her left hand. The figure is depicted in a serene, frontal pose with legs visible beneath draped garments, consistent with Hadrianic reverse iconography of enthroned deities and personifications. The legend encircles the design along the rim, reading partially around the field. The reverse field shows natural die wear and silvery-grey patina typical of circulated Imperial denarii.

附加信息

Justitia as a divine personification entered Roman imperial coinage under Augustus but became notably prominent in Hadrian's extensive propaganda program — an emperor who invested heavily in the imagery of just governance, partly to distance himself from the memory of Domitian and the anxieties of Trajan's final years. The COS III dating pins this issue to a narrow window of Hadrian's reign, after he assumed his third consulship in 119 but within the specific titulature sequence RIC places at 129–130.

Hadrian held no fourth consulship, making COS III the terminal designation for his entire middle and late reign.
