Obverse description Bare-headed, laureate bust of Hadrian facing right, with a short, neatly rendered beard characteristic of his mature portraiture, set within a beaded border. The emperor's hair is depicted in wavy, naturalistic locks falling across the forehead in the Hellenistic tradition adopted by Hadrian. The portrait is rendered with strong facial modeling, conveying imperial authority. The encircling Latin legend reads HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS P P, distributed around the bust within the coin's field.
