| 表面の説明 | Laureate bust of Hadrian facing right, with paludamentum (military cloak) draped over the left shoulder, rendered in high relief with finely engraved hair and beard characteristic of Hadrianic portraiture. The emperor's effigy displays a strong, idealized profile with the laurel wreath secured across the brow. The encircling Latin legend reads HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The coin is bordered by a finely executed inner ring of beaded denticles. The hammered flan exhibits the slightly irregular outline typical of hand-struck Roman Imperial silver coinage of this period. |

Hadrian's third consulship, held from 119 AD and retained as an honorific title thereafter, dates this issue to a period when the emperor was deep into his extraordinary program of provincial travel — he had already toured Gaul, Britain, and Spain by 124 AD. The Genius type belongs to a broader ideological program of that reign, in which divine protectors of the Roman state and its institutions were systematically catalogued across the coinage, partly reflecting Hadrian's genuine interest in religious and philosophical systems encountered abroad.
RIC II.3 #724 is among the variants distinguished in the 2023 revision of RIC volume II, which substantially reorganized Hadrianic issues previously compressed under older references.
