Obverse description Bare-shouldered, laureate bust of Hadrian facing right, rendered with finely detailed hair and the characteristic short beard that became an imperial fashion hallmark under this emperor. The portrait exhibits the high-relief, naturalistic style associated with the Rome mint workshops of the Hadrianic period. A circular legend in Latin capitals runs along the periphery within a beaded border. The truncation of the neck is visible at the lower field.
