The figure holds a parazonium (short sword) in the left hand and a spear in the right, with the spear resting diagonally across the body. The legend VIRTVS is inscribed horizontally in the field on either side of the standing figure, divided as VIR to the left and TVS to the right. The composition conveys imperial military virtue and strength, a central propagandistic theme of Galba's coinage struck at the Rome Mint.
