Obverse description Bare-headed and bearded laureate bust of Emperor Galba facing right, rendered in the veristic Roman portrait tradition emphasizing his aged, rugged features. The emperor is depicted with short cropped hair and a prominent beard, the bust truncated at the shoulder. The encircling Latin legend reads IMP SER GALBA CAESAR AVG, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The portrait is boldly struck in high relief with strong, confident engraving characteristic of the brief Galban coinage.
