Reverse description Standing figure of Salus, goddess of health and salvation, depicted in long draped robes facing left. She extends her right hand over a flaming altar or brazier set upon a pedestal in the lower left field, holding a patera for libation, while her left hand grasps a long sceptre or rudder. The composition is rendered in a graceful Hellenistic style with fine drapery detail. The legend SALVS GEN HVMANI is distributed around the periphery, proclaiming Galba as the bringer of salvation to the human race, a powerful propagandistic message issued at the outset of his brief reign.
