Obverse description Bare head of Emperor Galba facing right, rendered in the realistic portrait style characteristic of late Julio-Claudian and early Flavian coinage. The effigy displays the emperor's mature, aged features with a strong jawline and close-cropped hair. The portrait occupies the central field with no visible drapery at the truncation. The surrounding legend reads IMP SER GALBA AVG, identifying the emperor by his imperial title, cognomen, and the honorific Augustus. The flan is irregularly shaped and slightly off-center, as typical of hand-struck Roman silver coinage of this period.
