| Obverse description | Bare-headed, laureate bust of Emperor Galba facing right, rendered with pronounced aged features including a strong jawline and wrinkled neck, in a realistic portraiture style characteristic of late Julio-Claudian and Flavian Roman coinage. A small globe is placed at the truncation of the neck, symbolizing imperial dominion over the world. The legend IMP GALBA is inscribed in Latin capitals around the periphery, with the letters arranged partially to the left and right of the bust. The entire design is enclosed within a border of raised dots. The engraving reflects the bold, individualistic portraiture typical of the Year of the Four Emperors. |
