Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Galba facing right, rendered in high relief with strong portraiture characteristic of the late Julio-Claudian transitional style. The emperor's mature, aged features are depicted with naturalistic detail, including prominent jowls and a slightly furrowed brow. The laureate wreath sits firmly upon the head, with individual leaves visible. The encircling legend reads GALBA IMPERATOR, distributed around the obverse field in incuse Latin capitals. The flan is slightly irregular, as typical of hastily produced emissions during this brief and turbulent reign.
