| Reverse description | Standing figure of Libertas, the personification of liberty, rendered in full length facing left at center of the field. She is depicted in long flowing robes, holding a pileus (freedman's cap) in her extended right hand and a vindicta (rod of manumission) in her left hand, the classical attributes of emancipation and public freedom. The surrounding legend LIBERTAS PVBLICA divides across the field to left and right of the figure. The design is executed in a bold, slightly provincial style consistent with the brief reign of Galba. The composition is a deliberate political statement celebrating the liberation from Neronian tyranny. |
