| Obverse description | Bare head of Galba facing right, rendered in the realist portrait tradition of late Julio-Claudian and early Flavian coinage, with aged, somewhat austere features characteristic of his numismatic effigy. The bust is unadorned, without drapery or paludamentum, consistent with the Gallic mint issues struck during his rebellion against Nero and early principate. The surrounding field is flat and largely undecorated, typical of hammered denarii of this period. The circular Latin legend IMP SER GALBA AVG runs around the periphery, partially visible and somewhat worn, proclaiming Galba's imperial titles. |
