| Obverse description | Bare-headed, laureate bust of Emperor Galba facing left, rendered in high relief with strongly modelled facial features including a prominent brow, hooked nose, and short beard consistent with his aged portrait type. A small globe is depicted at the truncation of the neck, symbolising imperial dominion over the world. The legend GALBA IMP runs along the left field in capital Latin characters. The overall style is characteristic of the hurried mint production of the brief Galban reign, with bold but sometimes irregular die engraving. |
