| Obverse description | Laureate, horned, and draped bust of Elagabalus facing right, the emperor portrayed as a youthful figure with distinctive curled hair beneath a laurel wreath fitted with horns, indicative of his solar priestly role. The bust is rendered in a crude, provincial style characteristic of a barbarous imitation, with simplified facial features and summary drapery at the truncation. A beaded border frames the design. The surrounding field bears a partially legible Latin legend, clumsily engraved in imitation of official imperial coinage. |
