| Beschrijving keerzijde | Salus, the personification of health and well-being, depicted draped and standing to the right, her figure rendered with flowing garments characteristic of Flavian allegorical types. She rests her left arm upon a tall column to her right, lending the composition a sense of stately composure. In her raised right hand she holds a serpent — the traditional attribute of Salus — while her left hand extends a patera from which she feeds the snake, an act symbolizing divine nourishment and the welfare of the state. The reverse legend arcing above identifies the honorific title accorded to Domitian as heir to the throne. |
