| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Domitian facing right, depicted with aegis or light drapery at the shoulder, rendered in the confident portraiture style of the Flavian period. The emperor's strong facial features — prominent nose, square jaw, and furrowed brow — are characteristic of his official coinage from the Roman mint at Rome. The obverse legend encircles the bust, giving his full imperial titulature. The flan is slightly irregular, as is typical of hammered silver denarii of this era. |
