Reverse description Minerva, helmeted and draped, stands facing left in a commanding posture, her right hand extended and holding a thunderbolt, her left hand grasping an upright spear; a large round shield rests at her side. The goddess is rendered in a classicizing style with carefully articulated drapery falling to her feet. The reverse legend is distributed around the field, partially legible on the irregular flan. This Minerva type is one of the most frequently encountered reverse designs of Domitian, reflecting his personal devotion to the goddess.
