Reverse description A square curule chair (sella curulis) depicted frontally, its seat draped with an ornate cloth rendered with finely incised hanging folds, set upon a low base. A winged thunderbolt, symbol of Jupiter's divine authority, rests horizontally upon the seat of the chair. The reverse legend, divided across the field, records Domitian's consular and honorific titles. The type alludes to Domitian's role as consul and his claims to divine favour.
