| 裏面の説明 | A garlanded and lighted altar occupies the central field, depicted in three-quarter perspective with a flame or sacrificial fire burning atop its decorated upper surface and a garland draped around its body. The altar stands on a stepped base, its legs or pilasters clearly delineated on either side. The reverse legend, distributed in the field around the type, records Domitian's consular and honorific titles. The composition is simple and hieratic, characteristic of the early Flavian reverses struck at Rome in AD 81. |
