To the lower right, the mark EX•S•C (Ex Senatus Consulto — by decree of the Senate) appears partially in the field, while the legend CN•LEN•Q, identifying the issuing quaestor Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus Marcellinus, is inscribed in the lower exergue. The composition is bold and emblematic, consistent with the propagandistic monetary imagery of the late Roman Republic. |
