Reverse description In the central field, a large globe or orb rests at the intersection of a sceptre or hasta (staff) to the upper right and a caduceus to the left, with an olive branch extending diagonally across the upper field — together symbolising Roman sovereignty over land and sea and the blessings of peace and commerce. To the lower right, the mark EX•S•C (Ex Senatus Consulto — by decree of the Senate) appears partially in the field, while the legend CN•LEN•Q, identifying the issuing quaestor Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus Marcellinus, is inscribed in the lower exergue. The composition is bold and emblematic, consistent with the propagandistic monetary imagery of the late Roman Republic.
