Obverse description Bare, bearded male head facing right, generally identified as Cn. Domitius Ahenobarbus himself or a divine ancestor, crowned with a wreath of laurel or olive leaves. The portrait is rendered in a bold, late-Republican style with pronounced facial hair rendered in thick, deeply cut locks. The partial legend AHENOBAR[BVS] appears in the right field, reading downward along the coin's periphery. The field is plain, and the design is enclosed by a neat border of dots.
