Denarius - Clodius Albinus FORT REDVCI COS II, Fortuna

Clodius Albinus held the title of Caesar under Septimius Severus from 193, a political arrangement Severus used to neutralize a dangerous rival while he dealt with Pescennius Niger in the east. The COS II designation on this denarius dates it to 194–195, when Albinus held his second consulship — still nominally a partner, though Severus was already moving to eliminate him. Within two years Albinus would declare himself Augustus, forcing the final confrontation at Lugdunum in 197, where he died.

RIC IV.1 #5C is scarce relative to other Albinus issues, reflecting the compressed window of his Caesar coinage before the break with Severus.
