Obverse description Laureate head of Julius Caesar facing right, rendered in fine Republican style with strong, idealized features and a laurel wreath secured across the brow. The portrait is depicted with a draped shoulder, the wreath tied with ribbons falling at the nape. The legend IMP• CAESAR arcs around the field, divided across both sides of the effigy. The coin is struck on an irregular flan, as is typical of late Republican denarii produced under field conditions, with a border of dots encircling the design.
