| Reverse description | Within a finely rendered oak wreath (corona civica), the abbreviated legend is arranged in three horizontal lines across the central field: SPQR above, PP in the middle, and OB CS below, standing for Senatus Populusque Romanus / Pater Patriae / Ob Cives Servatos — the civic crown honorific granted to Augustus and inherited by subsequent emperors. The oak wreath is tied at the apex with a decorative knot and fills the entire reverse field, with individual leaves and acorns rendered in relatively high relief. The execution, while broadly faithful to the official Claudian prototype, shows slight irregularities in letter forms and wreath detail consistent with a contemporary counterfeit production. |
