Obverse description Bare head of Juno Moneta facing right, her hair elaborately dressed and adorned with a diadem or stephane decorated with a row of pellets, rendered in fine late-Republican style. The portrait is set within a plain field with no legend, a characteristic feature of this issue attributed to the moneyer Titus Carisius. The hair is pulled back and arranged in tight curls or braids, typical of the iconographic convention for this goddess. The bust is truncated at the neck, occupying the central field, surrounded by a beaded border. The engraving displays the accomplished die-cutting characteristic of the Roman mint workshops circa 46 BC.
