| Obverse description | Janiform conjoined heads of the Dioscuri (Castor and Pollux) facing in opposite directions, each wearing a laureate pileus surmounted by a star; the two busts share a common truncation rendered as a decorative element at the base. The control letter L appears to the lower left, and a control mark (star or wheel symbol) to the lower right. The field is bordered by a beaded inner circle. The composition reflects the archaic Janus-type tradition adapted to honour the twin deities associated with the gens Fonteia. |
