| Obverse description | Bare head of Augustus facing right, depicted with finely rendered wavy hair in the classicising Hellenistic portrait tradition characteristic of the early Principate. The effigy is shown as a draped bust, with the naturalistic modelling of the facial features emphasising the emperor's youthful and idealized appearance. The encircling legend S P Q R CAESARI AVGVSTO runs around the periphery of the field, reading from left to right, rendered in crisp incuse Latin capitals.
