Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in fine portrait style with naturalistic hair falling in short, layered locks across the forehead. The effigy displays the emperor's characteristic features with a slightly idealized physiognomy. The encircling legend reads S P Q R IMP CAESARI, distributed around the field in crisp Latin capitals. The portrait is set close to the coin's edge with minimal field visible, typical of Augustan denarius coinage of this period.
