正面描述 Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in fine portraiture typical of Augustan coinage, with naturalistically styled hair swept forward over the brow. The legend encircles the effigy, reading S P Q R CAESARI AVGVSTO, distributed around the field. The portrait is modelled in high relief with carefully defined facial features, conveying the idealized yet individualized style characteristic of the early imperial mint. No radiate crown or laurel wreath is present, emphasizing the restrained, civic character of the dedication inscribed in the legend.

附加信息

This denarius belongs to the monetary reforms Augustus pushed through following his return from the eastern provinces in 19 BC, a period in which the senate voted extraordinary public vows — the VOT SVSC PRO SAL ET RED — for his health and safe return. The vows were formally discharged in 18–17 BC, and the coinage commemorating them was almost certainly struck under the supervision of moneyers acting within Augustus's newly tightened control over the silver and gold supplies, wrested from senatorial oversight around 15 BC.

RIC I 150A is among the scarcer variants within this vow series.
