Obverse lettering CAESAR AVGVSTVS
(Translation: Caesar Augustus.)
Reverse description A prominent crescent moon occupies the lower central field, its horns pointing upward, with a six-pointed star or radiate burst centrally placed within the arc of the crescent. This celestial motif — combining the crescent and star — carries strong symbolic associations with divinity and dynastic ideology in Augustan propaganda. The moneyer's name and title are inscribed in two registers around the periphery, reading TVRPILIANVS above and IIIVIR below, separated by interpuncts. The design is bold and uncluttered, filling the flan effectively despite the irregularity of the hammered planchet.
