Reverse description Pegasus, the winged horse of mythology, depicted in a walking pose to the right with wings spread upward and one foreleg raised, rendered with careful attention to musculature and feather detail. The figure occupies the central field of the flan with the legend arching around it. The design is crisp and well-centered, characteristic of the Roman mint's production under Augustus. This imagery on a coin issued by the moneyer Publius Petronius Turpilianus may allude to themes of divine favor and Augustan aspirations of celestial glory.
