| Obverse description | Bare head of Augustus facing left, rendered with fine naturalistic detail characteristic of Augustan portraiture, including short, layered hair swept forward over the forehead. The effigy is depicted with a youthful, idealized appearance consistent with official imperial imagery of the period. The circular legend is divided on either side of the portrait, reading CAESAR to the left and AVGVSTVS to the right, in bold, well-spaced Latin capitals. A beaded border encircles the entire design. |
