Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in fine high relief with carefully detailed layered hair swept across the forehead in the characteristic Augustan portrait style. The effigy displays a classicizing, idealized treatment consistent with court-sanctioned imagery of the period. The circular legend CAESAR AVGVSTVS is disposed around the field, reading from left to right, with CAESAR to the left and AVGVSTVS to the right of the portrait. The coin is framed by a neatly executed inner border of raised dots (beaded border).
