Reverse description Mars Ultor depicted standing facing, nude save for a crested helmet and military cloak, set atop a rectangular pedestal or base. In his right hand he holds a spear pointing downward, and in his left hand he bears an aquila (legionary eagle standard) surmounted by a small orb. The pedestal bears the abbreviated votive inscription S P Q R / V PR RE / CAES in multiple lines within a rectilinear frame. The surrounding circular legend L MESCINIVS RVFVS III VIR runs around the periphery, identifying the tresvir monetalis responsible for the issue.
