Obverse description Bare, laureate head of Augustus in right profile, rendered in fine classical style with delicate facial features and an oak-wreath crown of civic laurel. The emperor's hair is depicted in characteristic Augustan style with individual strands carefully modeled. The surrounding legend, in raised Latin capitals, reads CAESAR AVGVSTVS TR POT, distributed around the periphery of the flan. The portrait exhibits the idealized, youthful treatment typical of official Augustan coinage of the late 1st century BC.
