Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the classical Roman portrait style with neatly combed hair swept forward across the brow. The effigy displays fine die-engraving characteristic of the Augustan monetary reform period. The legend AVGVSTVS appears in the field or along the periphery in Latin capitals. The flan is slightly irregular, as typical of hand-struck Roman silver coinage of this era.
