The architectural framework of the temple is rendered in detail, with columns supporting an entablature, reflecting the Temple of Jupiter Tonans (Iuppiter Tonans) dedicated on the Capitoline Hill by Augustus in 22 BC. The abbreviated legend IOVIS TON appears in the field, referencing Iuppiter Tonans — Jupiter the Thunderer.
