| Descrizione del rovescio | The reverse depicts a standing togate figure at left, identified as a Roman magistrate or military officer, extending his right hand toward Augustus, who is seated right on a low platform or throne, holding a long scepter in his left hand and extending his right arm in a gesture of reception or authority. A small figure, possibly a captive or a personification, stands between the two principal figures in the center field. The legend IMP XIIII is inscribed in the exergue below the scene, recording Augustus's fourteenth imperatorial acclamation. The composition reflects the dynastic and diplomatic iconography favored in the Augustan emissions from Lugdunum. |
