The rays radiate symmetrically outward toward the coin's edge, filling the entire reverse field in a bold and striking design. The legend DIVVS IVLIVS is inscribed horizontally across the centre of the comet, bisecting the rays. The imagery references the comet observed during the funeral games of Julius Caesar in 44 BC, which was interpreted as a divine omen of his apotheosis. |
