Obverse lettering CAESAR AVGVSTVS
Reverse description A central globe is flanked on the right by a rudder and on the left by a sceptre surmounted by a wreath, all arranged diagonally within the field. These symbols represent the dominion of Augustus over the world by land and sea. The legend CN LENT IQ S C appears above or around the devices, referencing the moneyer Gnaeus Cornelius Lentulus and the senatorial authority under which the coin was struck. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show typical hammered coin characteristics with moderate wear.
