Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing left, wreathed with oak (corona civica), with finely rendered hair falling in a short lock behind the neck. The portrait is rendered in the idealized Augustan classical style, with smooth facial features and a composed, authoritative expression. No legend appears on the obverse. A small circular object (possibly a bucranium or decorative motif) is visible in the lower left field.
Obverse script Latin

Reverse description A large circular votive shield (clipeus virtutis) occupies the center of the reverse, depicted in high relief with concentric borders and central decorative motif. The legend CAESAR above and AVGVSTVS below flanks the shield, with CL V inscribed upon or adjacent to the shield, referencing the clipeus votivus — the golden shield of virtue awarded to Augustus by the Senate in 27 BC. A row of pellets forms a border along the lower edge of the flan. The design commemorates the honorific shield inscribed with the four cardinal virtues of Augustus: valor, clemency, justice, and piety.
