| Beschrijving voorzijde | Bare head of Augustus facing right, encircled by an oak wreath (corona civica). The portrait is rendered in a classicising Hellenistic style, with fine facial detail characteristic of Augustan court art. The circular legend is distributed around the periphery of the flan, reading AVGVSTVS DIVI F. The wreath framing the effigy is a deliberate allusion to Augustus's receipt of the corona civica from the Senate in 27 BC, honouring him as saviour of the citizens. |
