| Obverse description | Bare head of Honos facing right, rendered in fine high relief with elaborately wavy, layered hair. The portrait is executed in the idealized Hellenistic style characteristic of Augustan coinage. The legend M DVRMIVS IIIVIR HONORI arcs around the periphery, identifying the moneyer Marcus Durmius in his capacity as Triumvir Monetalis and dedicating the type to Honos, the personification of honour. The field is smooth and unadorned, focusing attention on the elegant portrait. |
